Tour of Britain 2025
Last week we saw some fantastic road cycle racing with some of the international superstars of the sport coming to our fair isle. In addition to the retiring legend that is Geraint Thomas (participating in his last ever road race) were established cycling superstars like Remco Evenepoel, Julian Alaphillipe, Bauke Mollema, Olav Kooij plus up and coming riders like Oscar Onley and Romain Gregoire
It was a great opportunity to get some footage, but where do you stand and what do you shoot? Well the scenarios are boundless so it’s important to do your reconnaissance.
Finding an area where the cyclists have to slow down will give you time to get some crisp well composed shots of them in formation. When they’re moving quickly, you need to be well prepared as they can be hitting 60+ kmh and will go by in a flash. Fast shutter speeds will freeze the action, but slow it down a bit and a slightly blurred cyclist against a crisp background gives a sense of speed. Below you’ll see some stills and video of the exciting action from the day.

Remember, as a photographer, you’re always looking to keep your audience interested. Look for facial expressions and what’s happening around the riders.
